Bacillus Subtilis
Spore-forming probiotic stable to heat and processing.
Overview
Bacillus subtilis is a spore-forming bacterium used as a probiotic in dietary supplements, functional foods and animal feed.
Its spores withstand heat, pressure and low pH, so it survives feed pelleting, food processing and storage better than many non-spore-forming cultures. It also produces enzymes such as proteases and amylases.
It is used in formulations intended to support gut microbiota balance and nutrient digestibility and, in feed, feed efficiency.
