Overview
Serratiopeptidase IP is a proteolytic enzyme (metalloprotease) produced by fermentation of Serratia species. It hydrolyses a range of protein substrates, including fibrin, and is supplied to Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP) grade.
It is used as an active ingredient in oral tablet and capsule formulations, alone or with other actives, and in formulations for its anti-inflammatory action in approved medicines where permitted. Enteric-coated dosage forms are commonly used to preserve enzyme activity.
